BURLINGTON, N.C. — An EMS driver in Burlington fell asleep behind the wheel Sunday morning, causing the truck to run off the road, according to police.

Around 6:30 a.m., officers with the Burlington Police Department responded to the 2700 block of McKinney Street, where an Alamance County EMS truck ran off the road.

According to police, an investigation revealed that the driver fell asleep at the wheel and collied with the curb. Police said the ambulance traveled 70 feet after hitting a concrete retaining wall.
