Police: Burglar strikes, injures 82-year-old woman to steal $50
Police in Burlington said a man broke into a woman's home on Sunday and threw her to the floor before stealing $50 and fleeing on foot.
Posted — UpdatedAccording to the Burlington Police Department, officers responded to the home at 919 Dixie Street around 5:15 a.m.
Lessie Bell Wrenn, 82, said she heard a knock at her front door and, as she approached it to open it, the door was forced open by a male suspect.
Wrenn says the man struck her, causing her to fall to the floor, as he entered.
The man fled the scene on foot with a small amount of cash.
Wrenn was treated at the scene for a minor injury.
