<b>FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.</b> — The Fayetteville police Fraud Unit issued an alert Tuesday for businesses to be aware of fake traveler’s checks that are being passed.

Several local businesses reported receiving forged $500 VISA Traveler’s Cheques, police said.

Any business that receives a $500 dollar VISA Traveler’s Cheque should call the  VISA hotline to verify the check is real. The hotline number is <strong>800-227-6811</strong>.
