DURHAM, N.C. — The Durham Police Department released new information on Wednesday about a fatal stabbing that happened on July 1.

Dumar Andre Mosquera Mosquera, 35, was killed in his home on Charles Street.

Investigators said they believe the person responsible for his death was at his home on June 30 and left on July 1. Officials said surveillance video shows the suspect was in a white shirt, gray stonewashed jeans and sneakers.

The suspect also stole Mosquera’s truck that was later found on the side of Interstate 540 in Knightdale, officials said.

Mosquera is from Colombia, and all his family lives there. People in Durham knew him as Andres, according to investigators.

"Andres was a well-known member of the Durham community," said Durham police Investigator Michael Adams. "He was a hardworking man who came to Durham in search of a better life for himself."

Surveillance video shows that Mosquera met the suspect outside his home.

The Durham Police Department released new information on Wednesday about a deadly stabbing that happened on July 1.

"Andres was an entrepreneur," Adams. "He was a landlord as well as would sell delicious empanadas in order to create a better life for himself and help support his family back in Colombia. Andres was the ultimate family man."

Police say they are looking for information from someone who may have seen the suspect walking along the side of I-540 after ditching a Toyota Tacoma at around 1 a.m. July 1.
