Police activity on Interstate 40 at Rock Quarry Road has both roads shut down early Wednesday morning.

RALEIGH, N.C. — UPDATE: 7:35 a.m.: Interstate 40 reopened shortly after 7:30 a.m. Wednesday after police activity near Rock Quarry Road closed the highway for more than an hour.

Police activity on Interstate 40 at Rock Quarry Road has both roads shut down early Wednesday morning.
The Raleigh Police Department said officers were "dealing with a matter" at the interchange of I-40 and Rock Quarry Road, though the situation did not present a threat to public safety.
Traffic was being detoured around the closure.
