Police: 11-year-old boy shot in Rocky Mount

An 11-year-old boy is recovering in the hospital after being shot in Rocky Mount on Sunday morning.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — An 11-year-old boy is recovering in the hospital after being shot in Rocky Mount on Sunday morning.

Rocky Mount police found the boy wounded around 1:30 a.m. on Meadowbrook Road.

Police said the boy was taken to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville and should recover from his injuries, which were described as non-life-threatening.

Detectives were still on scene as of 8 a.m. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unclear. The boy's name was not released due to his age.

The shooting appears to be isolated.

A double shooting also occurred in Rocky Mount on Sunday morning at the Shell Food Mart on West Raleigh Boulevard. The shootings are not connected, according to police.
