RALEIGH, N.C. — Terrific Teeth Day is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4. The event is designed for preschoolers to third graders and their families. Plus, it's free!

The annual event is a partnership with the Raleigh Wake County Dental Society and serves as the kick off to Children's Dental Health Month, which focuses on dental health for children ages 5 to 11.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about 20 percent of children aged 5 to 11 years have at least one untreated decayed tooth. Untreated cavities can cause pain and infections that may lead to problems with eating, speaking, playing and learning.

Families can also take advantage of free dental screenings in the Colgate Dental Bus for children ages 0 to 12 years old during a special event.

Terrific Teeth Day is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Poe Center for Health Education, 224 Sunnybrook Road in Raleigh.
