RALEIGH, N.C. — A job fair is underway at PNC Arena on Thursday afternoon, with more than 500 part-time positions up for grabs.

More than 200 people applied for jobs online – and the line at the job fair looks promising as well.

However, working at PNC Arena means working around large crowds, and officials say it's too early to know if that will affect applications.

Job openings include everything from concessions to security, and PNC is offering incentives to help lure applicants – like increased pay. But as COVID cases grow, could that hurt the hiring effort at this big facility?

Right now, employees are required to wear a mask, but for guests it's only strongly recommended. Some potential applicants are wondering if the rules could change as the COVID situation gets worse.

"How do you gauge when you take a next step? When do you get more strict about things? We really rely on state regulations. We talk with the Governor's office and Dr. Cohen all the time," said Don Waddell, Hurricanes President & General Manager.

"We went through this last year with the playoffs with the Hurricanes. We will follow the guidelines they recommend," he said.

When it comes to vaccination requirements, Waddell says that is not something they will do right now – but it's possible the rules could change in the future.
