— Mild fall temperatures will continue Thursday, but a bigger chill is coming for Friday and Saturday.

Thursday will be a clear, mild day with highs in the upper 70s. The weather will be ideal for people waiting outside at early voting sites.

WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said a few showers are possible Thursday evening, but it shouldn't be a big rain event.

The real change comes Friday when a strong cold front moves through the state. Light rain will be possible throughout the day, and highs will be in the mid 60s -- more than 10 degrees cooler than they were on Thursday.

There is a 60% chance for showers much of the day, but it shouldn't be a washout. Some thunderstorms are possible later in the afternoon.

Cold-front coming Friday

Overnight, lows will drop into the low 40s, some of the coolest temperatures we've seen this season.

Saturday will be the coolest day of the week, with highs in the low 60s. Both Saturday and Sunday will be dry and sunny, and it will be a beautiful weekend to enjoy time outdoors.
