Pickup crashes into Durham house

Police said alcohol played a role in a wreck that left a pickup truck lodged in the front of a Linwood Avenue house Sunday morning.

DURHAM, N.C. — Police said alcohol played a role in a wreck that left a pickup truck lodged in the front of a Linwood Avenue house Sunday morning.

Jime Elsanchez, 20, whose last known address was Spring Garden Lane in Raleigh, was charged with driving while impaired, having no operating license and damage to property.

Police said Elsanchez lost control of his truck, and it crashed into the house at 1107 Linwood Ave., near Alston Avenue, around 9 a.m. Sunday.

One person was inside the home at the time but did not receive any injuries, police said. Elsanchezr got a minor scratch on his hand.

Both the house and truck sustained serious damage, which police estimated to be worth between $10,000 and $30,000.
