RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh-based food truck Pho Nomenal Dumpling will be giving people a chance to try out some of the menu at their upcoming restaurant in downtown Raleigh.
Mofu Shoppe's sneak peek event is from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. in front of the restaurant's soon to be home at 321 S. Blount St. in City Market.
The Pho Nomenal Dumpling Truck will be serving food outside in the parking lot. The menu will feature a few truck specials and some Mofu Shoppe specials from the restaurant's executive chef Andrew Schaumann. Adult beverages will be also be available until they run out.

Arist Darany Samountry will be creating a mural during the event, while DJ Rhymic aka Ryan McGuire spins some beats.

There will also be a canned food drive for Haven House, a non-profit agency that helps struggling, young people and their families. A portion of the night's proceeds will also go to the non-profit.

Look for Mofu's menu to feature a variety of dishes that highlight fun takes on Asian street food, offering "something familiar but something interesting at the same time," co-owner Sophia Woo said.

"We loved the playfulness and humor that we've always found on the food truck. We pair a lot of Southern foods with some sort of Asian twist," Woo said. The restaurant's menu will feature "East Meets West" cuisine.

The space, which used to be an old car dealership, is currently under construction. Once finished, Woo said they plan to have indoor and outdoor seating, courtesy of two large garage doors that can be lifted.

Don't expect Pho Nomenal Dumpling to go away once Mofu opens. The truck is scaling back a little this year, but plans to be on the road again in 2018.

"It's where we started. It's what people know us as," Woo said. "We are never taking the truck out of commission completely."
