DURHAM, N.C. — A motorcyclist was killed when he collided Sunday evening with a Chevrolet pickup truck in Durham, authorities said.

The incident occurred at 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of North Pointe Drive and Guess Road Sunday afternoon.

Police said 30-year-old Laquinton Eurkuo Pittmanman was traveling northbound on Guess Road on a 2003 Honda motorcycle when he crashed into a southbound 2003 Silverado truck. The man died at the scene, police said in a written statement.

Police said the driver of the truck was not hurt and no charges have been filed.

Police said it appears the motorcyclist was speeding and that was a factor in the crash.

After the crash, Durham police erected yellow crime scene tape at the intersection as they investigated the crash.
