Person injured in I-40 wreck near Garner

Garner, N.C. — Traffic on both sides of Interstate 40 was backed up for hours Wednesday evening after a wreck between Jones Sausage and Rock Quarry roads near Garner.
Two of three eastbound lanes were blocked at mile-marker 303 after the wreck. Officials reopened all lanes just before 8 p.m.
The wreck occurred at about 6 p.m. when a tractor-trailer rear-ended a car. A person from the car was transported to WakeMed with injuries.
The cause of the wreck remained under investigation Wednesday evening.
