RALEIGH, N.C. — A person has been killed Saturday after being reportedly struck by a vehicle in Raleigh.

The State Highway Patrol said troopers were called to a reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle on Pearl Road off Rock Quarry Road just before 6:30 p.m. En route to the scene, troopers were informed the person was dead.

Troopers said a Dodge Ram struck a person who was said to have been already lying down in the road.

Two witnesses told SHP the body was already in the road before being hit by the truck, but they didn't know if they had been struck by another vehicle before hand.

A third witness who lives nearby told SHP that they saw a vehicle speed away before the Ram was on scene.

It is unclear if the person died due to injuries sustained before the Dodge Ram was there, or because of those injuries on top of possible other ones.

WRAL News is working to gather more information.
