Person arrested in UNC investigation of social media threats

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Police arrested a UNC student on Thursday for threats to campus safety that were made overnight on social media.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Police arrested a UNC student on Thursday for threats to campus safety that were made overnight on social media.

Daniel Berkman Fischbeck, 18, of 3220 Planters Ridge Road in Charlotte, is charged with making a false bomb report to a public building.

Police said there is no credible threat to campus, and students and faculty have been advised to continue their normal routines.

Authorities have not released any details about the nature of the social media threats.

Anyone who sees suspicious activity on campus should call 911. Anyone with information about the threats should call the UNC Department of Public Safety at 919-962-8100.
