Pepper spray used to break up fight at Leesville High

Raleigh police officers used pepper spray to break up a fight at Leesville Road High School Thursday morning.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police officers used pepper spray to break up a fight involving six students at the start of the school day at Leesville Road High School Thursday.

Each student was charged with one count of simple assault, police spokesman Jim Sughrue said. Four of the students were 16 years old, one student was 15 years old, and one student was 14 years old.

The 14- and 15-year-olds were released into the custody of their parents, and the 16-year-olds were taken to the Wake County jail.
