A pedestrian died Tuesday in an accident near downtown Raleigh.

<b>RALEIGH, N.C.</b> — A pedestrian died early Tuesday morning in an accident near downtown Raleigh.

The accident occurred on South Wilmington Street south of City Farm Road.The victim has been identified as 49-year-old James William Smith.

Authorities would only say the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. They have not yet released other details about the accident.
