CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Chapel Hill police said a pedestrian was struck in a multi-vehicle crash that happened Wednesday night just before 11 p.m.

Officials said the crash happened on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near Homestead Road in Chapel Hill. The person, who was not identified, was rushed to UNC Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Police stayed on the scene to investigate and gather evidence late Wednesday.

Police say the pedestrian was crossing a dark part of the road about 50 feet from a clearly marked crosswalk.

Just last month, another pedestrian was hit about a mile up the road on Bank Drive.
