RALEIGH, N.C. — A driver hit a pedestrian in south Raleigh on Thursday morning.

A 61-year-old man was walking in the roadway in the 3800 block of South Wilmington Street, a service road along U.S. Highway 70, when he was hit at about 6:15 a.m., police said.

The man, whose name hasn't been released, was taken to WakeMed with what a police spokeswoman called serious, life-threatening injuries.
