Pedestrian killed in Fayetteville wreck

A pedestrian was killed Thursday just before 11 p.m. after being hit by a car near South Eastern Boulevard and Person Street in Fayetteville, police said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A pedestrian was killed Thursday just before 11 p.m. after being hit by a car near South Eastern Boulevard and Person Street in Fayetteville, police said. 

Authorities said Naja Hamilton, 21, was driving south on South Eastern Boulevard when she struck Wayne Joseph Smith, 50, who was trying to cross the street. 

Smith was pronounced dead after being taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center following the wreck.

No charges have been filed. No other information was released.
