A man was hit and killed by a car Friday night in Fayetteville.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man was hit and killed by a car Friday night in Fayetteville.

James D. McKethan Jr., 42, of Fayetteville was hit at the intersection of N.C. Highway 24 and Plymouth Street shortly before 10 p.m., police said. He was pronounced dead at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Ajaleann J. Chico-Romo, 24, of Fayetteville, was driving the 2016 Toyota Corolla that hit him, police said.

No charges had been filed as of Saturday morning, but the incident remains under investigation.

Inbound N.C. 24 was closed while police investigated.
