Pedestrian hit, killed in Durham

A woman was killed when she was hit by a 1998 Oldsmobile on Fayetteville Street in Durham Thursday night, Durham watch commander Lt. Leroy Williams said.

DURHAM, N.C. — A woman was killed when she was hit by a 1998 Oldsmobile on Fayetteville Street in Durham Thursday night, Durham watch commander Lt. Leroy Williams said.

The woman was hit around 8:30 p.m. at 2540 Fayetteville St. near the St. Joseph AME Church, Williams said. The male driver stayed at the scene and was being interviewed by police.

The woman's name was not released.

After the wreck, officials closed Fayetteville Street between Burlington Avenue and Nash Street for several hours.
