Pedestrian hit in Chapel Hill dies; driver charged

A pedestrian who was hit by a car last week in Chapel Hill has died, and the driver has been charged, police said Thursday.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A pedestrian who was hit by a car last week in Chapel Hill has died, and the driver has been charged, police said Thursday.

Carey Canon, 60, of Chapel Hill, was hit last Friday morning at the intersection of Westminster Drive and Banks Drive and died Tuesday at UNC Hospitals, Police Chief Chris Blue said.

Manhua Wang, 22, of Chapel Hill, was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and is scheduled to appear in court on July 15, Blue said.
