— A male pedestrian was rushed to the hospital early Friday morning after being hit by a vehicle on Western Boulevard.

The 911 call came in around 3 a.m.

The driver of the vehicle said the pedestrian quickly darted out into traffic. The man was not in a crosswalk, the driver said.

The driver said the pedestrian hit the car's bumper and windshield before falling underneath the car.

Western Boulevard reopened around 5:45 after being shut down between Chaney Road and Method Road.

Raleigh police said the pedestrian had serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
