Pedestrian critically injured in Fayetteville

A pedestrian was hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in Fayetteville early Sunday.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A pedestrian was hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in Fayetteville early Sunday.

Police said the pedestrian walked in front of a vehicle at Owen Drive and Boone Trail shortly after 2 a.m.

The victim was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Police said the victim was a homeless person but did not release more identifying information.

Police said it does not appear the driver was at fault, so they do not plan to file charges. The investigation was ongoing.
