MORRISVILLE, N.C. — Spirit Airlines moved on Friday from terminal two to terminal one at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport during a busy travel day.

Many passengers who spoke to WRAL News said they had no idea this change was taking place. Some even missed their flights because they didn't know which terminal to be at.

"My boarding pass said terminal two, and I went to terminal two, but then I was told I had to go to terminal one after waiting in a long line," said traveler Reyin Jasmine. She was headed to Miami.

"I'm trying not to cry," Jasmine said.

Jasmine is now going to have to find a place to stay for the day until she can book a new flight.

"I had to run under this entire tunnel with a bunch of people," Jasmine said.

A few others who did not want to go on camera told WRAL News they also missed their Spirit flight.

Passengers say that there was no proper notice and they did not see any signage to suggest that they were at the wrong terminal. A spokesperson with the airport said signs across campus were changed on Thursday afternoon.

The move was supposed to happen in 2020 but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Spirit Airlines is moving to make room for a new international carrier that will be coming to terminal two in May.

WRAL News has reached out to Spirit Airlines about how the company is handling the situation, but has not heard back.

The Easter holiday weekend is one of the busiest times to travel during the spring-break period. Travelers are advised to arrive at the airport early and reserve parking online before arriving.

Parking garages right outside the terminals are more than 90% full as of Friday afternoon. The economy lot is about 65% full.

Durham resident Lawrence Powell told WRAL News he drove around for about 25 minutes to find a parking.

"That was a disaster," he said. "I had to drive around up, down and from underneath, so there is probably not a lot of parking."
