MOORE COUNTY, N.C. — One person was injured when a flying object struck a bus Thursday afternoon in Moore County.

The Moore County Sheriff’s Office said that a group of charter buses carrying members of Mountaire Farms was traveling on U.S. Highway 1 at about 3:20 p.m. when an object when through the windshield.

"Based on the evidence, it appears that a rock or other debris struck the glass of the passenger bus, causing it to break and injure the passenger," Sheriff Neil Godfrey said. "We are confident that it was not intentional or malicious."

The passenger was sitting in the second row of seats on the bus and was the only person injured. He was taken by ambulance to First Health Moore Regional Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Anybody with information is asked to call the Moore County Sheriff’s Office at 910-947-2931.
