Part of NC 96 closed after driver refuses to stop for law enforcement, flees scene
Law enforcement had part of N.C. Highway 96 shut down after a person refused to stop for law enforcement then ran after stopping their vehicle.

WRAL News' Aaron Thomas reported a heavy presence of law enforcement was in the area. Officials told Thomas someone was driving down the road and refused to stop for law enforcement. After they did, they ran away from the scene.
The road was closed down as officials searched for the person. The SUV-type vehicle was banged up when law enforcement approached it. There was no further information as the investigation and search for the person continued into the night.
