Parenting Tip: Survive sibling rivalry

Posted January 11, 2011 8:10 p.m. EST

You can't prevent sibling rivalry, says Cathy Hedgepeth of Triangle Parenting Support. But there are better ways to deal with those squabbles when they come up.

Hedgepeth is a licensed psychological associate and licensed school psychologist who worked as a counselor at Wake County's Project Enlightenment for 22 years. Triangle Parenting Support, which focuses on kids ages 0 to 10, offers counseling, workshops and more to parents and kids across the Triangle.

Hedgepeth's colleagues have been offering parenting tips over the last month. Check the box to learn more about bedtime routines and homework tips.

Today and next Wednesday, Hedgepeth will share some tips and advice for surviving and managing sibling rivalry (which I'm just now experiencing with my five-year-old and one-year-old). Watch the video for more.

And check Triangle Parenting Support's website for more on what they offer including some upcoming workshops. Workshop topics are Ready-Set-Go to Kindergarten on Jan. 18 and Raising a Responsible Child on Jan. 25.
