Paramedic shot while attending to call in Lenoir County

Authorities said the paramedic is currently in stable condition at ECU Health Center.

A paramedic in Lenoir County was shot while attending a call Sunday in Kinston.

According to county authorities, the shooting happened just before 6 p.m. on Marilyn Drive.

Authorities said while the paramedic was attempting to load a patient into an ambulance, a vehicle slammed into the ambulance. A person then emerged and started firing a weapon hitting the paramedic.

The paramedic was taken to the ECU Health Center and is currently in stable condition.

The Kinston Police Department is investigating the case.
