The ArtsCenter in Carrboro is gearing up for a big family-friendly show that starts Thursday and runs through March 6.

The Paperhand Puppet Intervention's The Big Tent Cabaret Road Show features puppets by the folks who might be best known around here for their massive puppets during the People's Procession at the New Year's Eve celebration in downtown Raleigh.

The hour-long show (a perfect length for the youngest puppet lovers among us) includes a variety of puppet vignettes in a wide gamut of puppetry styles. We're talking masks, giant puppets and more.

I'm sorry to say I have not been to a Paperhand show yet, though have seen their work at First Night and other festivals in the area and have always been impressed by the size of their pieces and creativity. And I've heard great things about their shows. Please share in the comments if you've seen one in person.

The show runs Thursday through March 6. Performances are at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sundays. Shows also are scheduled for 11 a.m. Feb. 26 and 4 p.m. March 5. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students in advance. They are $17 for adults and $12 for students the day of the show.
