Pair charged in Zebulon bank robbery

Two people were arrested early Thursday at a Raleigh motel in connection with a Wednesday morning bank robbery in Zebulon, police said.

ZEBULON, N.C. — Two people were arrested early Thursday at a Raleigh motel in connection with a Wednesday morning bank robbery in Zebulon, police said.

A man brandishing a handgun walked into the RBC Bank branch at 300 N. Arendell Ave. at about 9:10 a.m. Wednesday and demanded cash from a teller, police said. He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Zebulon police searched a Nash County residence as they following leads in the case and eventually tracked two suspects in the robbery to a Super 8 Motel on New Bern Avenue in Raleigh. Officers arrested two people at the motel and recovered a gun and some money, police said.

Corey Whitley, 40, of 116 Westside Circle in Zebulon, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was being held Thursday in the Wake County Detention Center under a $154,000 bond.

Heather Sprayberry Palmer, 36, of 202 Fox Run in Wendell, was charged with being an accessory after the fact of a felont. She was being held in jail Thursday under a $21,000 bond.
