Oxford authorities working to determine if foot chase, shooting are connected

Authorities are investigating after an attempted traffic stop led to a chase Tuesday night in Oxford.

OXFORD, N.C. — Authorities are investigating after an attempted traffic stop led to a chase Tuesday night in Oxford.

Authorities said an officer attempted to make a traffic stop at the corner of Henderson Street and Hunt Street when two men jumped out of the car and ran, prompting a short foot chase.

Authorities said ammunition was found inside the car, but no shots were fired during the incident.

No weapons were found inside the car, which had Ohio license plates.

A short while later, a man was shot near to corner of Crescent Drive and Old Baker Street. That man was taken to an area hospital, but his condition was unknown.

Authorities are working to determine if the two incidents are related.
