RALEIGH, N.C. — One person was injured in a crash that closed Interstate 440 after the busiest part of the morning commute on Monday.

The crash occurred before 9:45 a.m. near Exit 10 for Wake Forest Road and initially closed all westbound lanes. At 10:30 a.m., two westbound lanes had reopened, and one eastbound lane was closed. Traffic was moving slowly in both directions.

Police said a preliminary investigation determined that a westbound vehicle rear-ended another vehicle, causing the vehicle to collide with a passing truck.

The flatbed truck, from Jarco Supply Co. in Youngsville, then swerved and collided with the center concrete media and flipped on its side, police said.

The truck was towed off the road and all lanes were open by 11:30 a.m.
