FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — Police are investigating a deadly crash that caused officials to block traffic overnight in Fuquay-Varina.

According to officials, a 2018 Jeep Wrangler failed to navigate a curve on Angier Road and ran into a tree.

The vehicle caught on fire, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials blocked traffic both directions on Angier Road near Atlantis Street, but the roadway has since been reopened.

WRAL News is working to learn more and will provide additional updates as they become available.
