More than 68 stores have now confirmed that they will be CLOSED on Thanksgiving Day 2018! The list includes retail, grocery, warehouse, home improvement, pet and craft stores and more.

Does this make you want to support these stores more or less?

BestBlackFriday.com personally reached out to representatives from each of these stores over the past month and this the largest list of closings they have had in October. In fact, they expect it to grow to over 100 national and well-known regional stores by Thanksgiving Day.

The list below even has some traditional and big box local grocery stores including Publix, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Costco and Sam’s Club. There are also multiple local malls that are closing on Thanksgiving Day.

There will be more grocery stores added to this list based on the closings last year. Many grocery stores in the area usually close early on Thanksgiving Day. We'll have a full list of those grocery and drug store closings and early closings posted as soon as the stores release their holiday hours.

Findings from the BestBlackFriday.com research:

- Thanksgiving Blue Laws for Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Maine prevent stores in those states from being open on Thanksgiving. Do you think North Carolina should have a similar law?

- Many stores have issued official statements about why they are closed on Thanksgiving day including Costco, who shared, “As an appreciation of all the hard work our employees do over the course of the year, we have always closed on Thanksgiving to give our employees a chance to relax and enjoy time with their families.”

- According to a recent September, 2018 survey by BestBlackFriday.com, over 47% of Americans dislike Thanksgiving openings.

* Strongly Favor Thanksgiving Day Openings: 11.16 percent
* Favor Thanksgiving Day Openings: 13.51 percent
* Indifferent to Thanksgiving Day Openings: 27.67 percent
* Dislike Thanksgiving Day Openings: 18.67 percent

* Strongly Dislike Thanksgiving Day Openings: 28.99 percent

What do you think? Do you want stores to be open on Thanksgiving or should they stay closed until Black Friday?

If you prefer online shopping, you will find that many brick and mortar stores that are closed on Thanksgiving Day will still have super online sales. And online shopping is certainly picking up for Thanksgiving Day. BestBlackFriday.com shared that in 2017, online sales were up 18.3% over 2016, according to Adobe.
