UNC Health on Wednesday said Dr. Paul Chelminski, an internal medicine physician, was on the flight and is in "good condition." There was no update on the pilot, who was taken to Duke University Hospital in Durham.

What makes it unique is the care that the kitchen and the team puts into each ingredient in each dish. Welcome to Pates farm market but we're more about the quality and we will step, it's good. You know, we have four independent food concepts and our own craft cocktails, beer and craft coffee bar. Go out and about. Yeah, Welcome to Piero's pasta and wine Heroes. Pasta in line is a modern italian american restaurant. We want to have something for, for everybody will offer a variety of appetizers and light fare or course meals based on what the diners desired. I think people enjoy the different spaces that we have in the restaurant, whether it's a nice intimate booth by the window or a fun outing on the patio with friends and I think we offer a little bit for everybody. What makes it unique is the care that the kitchen and the team puts into each ingredient in each dish. Um, there's a lot of thought that goes into the processes and making these dishes. We got the calamari, fried calamari. We served them with marinara sauce. I gotta try that one. You gotta try the fresh mozzarella, annapolitan, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, black olives preparation, ease balsamic reduction in olive oil if you like seafood. I have this dish we call food to the market. You gotta try to put fish whatever's in season, like fish scallops, stream mussels, calamari and now we have two options. You can do either lemon white wine sauce or marinara. Is the marinara is a family recipe that's been shared with us um that we hold dear to us. People can expect classic italian dishes, a variety of pastas served in in classic ways with anything from fettuccine alfredo with chicken milanese to mosquitoes and caprese salads. I think some of my favorite dishes are the shrimp pesto. It's a classic pine nut pesto with basil, olive oil, lightly sauteed shrimp. We also have a pasta primavera with basil olive oil. If you want something lighter, we will offer some dishes for the guests that isn't necessarily looking for pasta. So we will have um a rib eye with mashed potatoes on the menu um with seasonal vegetables, vegetarian dishes along with vegan options. We want to tailor an experience for every diner. We want to represent um all of the 20 wine regions in Italy with our bottle program, we have 24 draft lines that will have a draft beer, local and craft domestic beer, a draft program with wines by the glass on draft Prosecco, lambrusco italian cocktails. We hope that people feel welcome and comfortable to celebrate special occasions to have a casual dinner during the week. To go out and celebrate on the weekends with friends. We're gonna have the survivor thrive er celebration where all the survivors get to march around that everyone gets to say hello and see them. 8 30 is gonna be our opening ceremony. And then at nine o'clock we're gonna have the fund race where you get to walk along the race course, it's a five K. We're gonna have entertainers along the course, cheerleaders, chorus groups, It's gonna be a whole lot of fun to walk the race and then you come back to race town and enjoy the after party at the race town. Being back in person, you really get a sense of community meeting other fellow survivors and it brings that sisterhood in that camaraderie with you. We don't want anyone to feel that they have to fight alone. It's a series of about four or five different treehouses and it's a great way to get kids and adults outside and exploring nature and a hands on interactive environment. Welcome to the Greensboro Science Center. Spring is by far the best time to plan your visit to come see our aquarium, museum and zoo. The weather is absolutely perfect for our animals and they love spending the springtime outside where you can get a really good look at them. If you haven't been in a while, you're gonna want to plan to spend some time checking out Revolution Ridge. We have some really unique animals out here, like our own copy. His name is bakari. They're related to giraffes. We also have pygmy hippos. We have a pair named ralph and holly. There recommended breeding pair. So hopefully one day in the future will have baby hippos. Something cool to watch out for when you see them is watch as they open and close their mouths. They sharpen their teeth all the time. Another highlight of Revolution Ridge is our cat complex. We have four different species of small cats and the cool thing about this exhibit is even if the weather is maybe raining a little bit, those spring showers come rolling through, you can still see a lot of those through their indoor viewing areas during the week. If you come to our animal hospital, you can actually see animal care in progress and you can watch our animals undergoing their annual exams, you can also see them getting different treatments and even surgery if you're interested. We have two tigers now Rocky and a new one named Raza this spring. We are hoping to first make that introduction between Rocky and raza, so hopefully they will fall in love and hopefully we'll have tiger cubs in the future as well. We also just received a new main wolf bear named Iggy and Fiona and our hope for them is also that they'll become a breeding pair. A great way to spend some time outside this spring is to check out the Kiwanis Oris treehouse Adventure. It's a series of about four or five different tree houses. Some of the walkways are also 88 accessible and it's a great way to get kids and adults outside exploring nature and a hands on interactive environment for those who are a little bit older. We also have Sky wild and that's our Treetop Adventure park. There are seven different courses and a lot of the elements are actually mimicking animal behaviors so you can get up into the trees and actually mimic some of your favorite animal adaptations that you see here at the science Center, if spring showers do chase you inside, there's still lots of exciting things to do. A number of our interactive hands on opportunities have returned. We have daily talks with thai who in the zoo is our actual red panda, but inside he's an animated character that drives a submarine and talks to the Children in our supply bay area about what he's observing underwater. We've also brought back science on the spot. So our education team has a cart that will station around the center. It's a pop up kind of activity and our dive shows have returned. So if you're spending some time in the aquarium, you might get to actually see our diver in the shark tank talking to our guests through a pretty cool unique microphone system where they can actually answer your questions live throughout the month of april we're also celebrating the north Carolina science Festival. So if you want to follow us on facebook, you'll be able to see all the events we have planned this saturday. We're actually having a star party outside. You can come out look through telescopes, weather permitting. If not, we'll have shows in our ominous fear theater. To help you get a look into the outermost regions of our universe. April 23, we also have our science extravaganza and that's just a super fun day where we have all different kinds of scientific topics spread out throughout the facility. So if you're interested in physics or chemistry or robotics, no matter what it is, if you come out that day, there's definitely something for you to learn and experience. Also through april if you have any old cell phones or ipads or tablets laying around, be sure to bring those were participating with gorillas on the line, which is a recycling program for your small electronics, dropped them off in the entrance on your way in and you'll help us save gorillas just by visiting and dropping off your used electronics. And of course, no visit to the science center is complete without a ride on the rotary club of Greensboro Carousel. On your way out, make a right head down to the park and you'll see a really unique carousel with all kinds of different figures. Mhm. Welcome to Crafton. Crafton is the spirit of the Food hall with the spirit of a restaurant and a craft cocktail bar on the front of the house. When you come to Crafton, the idea is that you're experiencing things that you've never had before. We have four independent food concepts and we have our own craft cocktail, craft beer and craft coffee bar. When you sit down, we have we have a couple of different options. So we have a server team that will come to your table, bring you water and and give you that that restaurant experience. We also have QR codes and all the tables inside and outside. And so you know, we want to give that diversity of experience so that no matter where you're coming from post pandemic, you're comfortable and welcome and and and have a great experience at Crafting Thanos is a very exciting taco concept. They are one of the most successful free trucks in Raleigh. They make everything from scratch everything from their chips and salsa, their tacos, their meets, they slow roast their beard. Oh, tacos. It is a it is a slow roasted meat that you dip in a jew. And I mean from the, from the perspective of intentionality, if you rush this, it doesn't taste right. They spend so much time and love and effort making their bureau that I mean I've never had anything like it. Oscar and patty. They built this phenomenal food truck business with Papa Romano's Tacos. But it turns out that Oscar ran a pizzeria in New York City for 15 years and they brought the pizza oven to Raleigh from chinatown. So we can truly say we have authentic new york pizza here in Raleigh at Crafton because of Fury Pizza. I just simply love their pizza for me it's the arugula prosciutto pizza, it's so fresh, so good. I think one of the other most exciting things for me is the collaboration. They have this mexican pizza that is super good because it's a collaboration between Fury and poblanos tacos and that collaboration is one of the most unique pieces you'll ever take. I think a burger is a really exciting twist on the burger concept. What makes the Venezuelan burger different is there are so many flavors and they often times because they're so big and so good that you're gonna get every flavor in one bite, but sometimes you're gonna have to use a fork and knife because it's just, it's that kind of experience. I think it's not just burgers. Finca has this absolutely phenomenal chicken wing on their menu and they, they are grilled wings, a ton of flavor and have just a bunch of really, really different unique sauces available. Corner Venezuelan is a true to form Venezuelan food concept. Their arepas are just absolutely divine, great flavors from everything from their cold chicken salad. It's like an avocado. Chicken salad. Arepa to their steak. Arepas are absolutely phenomenal. They just high quality meat. They do this Pabian bowl, that's one of the healthiest things we've got here in Crafton. I really respect and appreciate how much they lean into their heritage and how they deliver great food that they're excited about and I'm proud of The craft in cafe in the morning, we open at 6:45 and we don't even start serving lunch until 11. So that period of time, it is great to focus. It's great to take your time with your cup of coffee. We have a coffee roaster from here in the area out of Wendell um called Workbench roasters and it is the freshest coffee you've ever had really continues the intentionality of what crafting is. Crafton bar is really the peak of the experience. From the power puff girl to the Bitcoin to our deja brew, to our snake oil. This is these are combinations of flavors and techniques that only exist in the highest end craft cocktail bar. So I'm gonna make the power puff girls, definitely the most popular one on the menu. It's got a little spice to it, but not too much jalapeno and pineapple infused tequila, a little bit of triple sec, some fresh strawberry puree and some house made sour mix, just like a margarita. I only named it the power puff girl because it's got sugar spice and everything nice and it's pink but you know what, it's delicious and it's worth ordering every time you come to craft and you should be comfortable getting something different and something exciting. But most of all we want this to be a place where the community comes to be together after two years of the pandemic. You know that everybody kind of being isolated community is everything now and that's what we hope to have here at crafting. Mhm. That music fest with the mountain goats. Steep canyon rangers, nip so american aquarium, delta Rae and more. Two days of live music on three stages with over 20 artists from right here in the triangle, a live music experience on the field at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, june 24th and 25th, tickets on sale now at that music fest dot com, field access, covered seating and single day tickets available. The mural bike tour is a tour Of about 12 stops of just a fraction of the mural art you will find in downtown Durham. Our artists and our tour guides will talk to you about artists, talk to you about the interpretation of the art and you get to experience beautiful buildings in Durham. What people will see and learn about Durham um are about local and not, maybe not so local artists, their work the good that they're doing in the community and what the art means and represents a lot of the art. Uh It tells your terms story. Um business is great people here and ERM um and it's just a wonderful initiative to get people to appreciate public art. People love the tours, They are always interested in the politics surrounding some of the mural arts, They're interested in the history. Um They are they're also interested in the architectural buildings because like this building um there's great architecture and disarm. The tourists are once a month there on the first saturday of every month from May to november. We meet at 10 a.m. at the farmers market. So come on out for a great tour of the murals in downtown down. We started originally from a farmer's market and then we incorporate the meat market in the daily and trying to make it a year round thing instead of just a seasonal thing. Okay. Yeah. Mhm. Mhm. Welcome to Pates Farm Market. I started working in protest when I was 14 years old and then I left and went to work in a cotton mill and I took the money I made economy and went about peaches and sold them. I made $158 a cotton mill and I turned that into $300 in two days. So that's where I started. You know I got the hungry for the fruit business, you know that's all of everything is produced for more about the quality and we are the prices, you know price is important, we want stuff that eats good, you know we try to carry everything there is in the produce, Writing the best tomatoes, vine ripe tomatoes, you can't find everywhere. The best tree ripe peaches, chain stores that ship stuff in. They have to get it pre cooled and, and, and not so ripe, it's not tree wrapping. So the tree whiteness, better tasting fruit. The pineapple, we got those 100 pineapples are the best. The pineapple machine is also be putting pineapple in there And it peels it decoys, it cuts in wedges in 20 seconds. If it's out there, we try to get it and just give it a chance in here. And if it sells, we keep it, if it don't we try something else. We have jargon, we have Amish jellies and jams and relishes and peanut butters and all that type stuff and then we've got candies and snacks and bakery albums. We do homemade cakes in house that are really good. The butcher shop. The idea behind that was to have a fresh meat because most of the chain stores of pre package of eating now. So we've got a butcher in the house that will cut it fresh every day. We have a daily and a hot bar with country cooking and you know a lot of times we're cooking and stuff that we're selling. I think they cooked cabbage about everyday. Everybody loves the cabbage, Chicken, they cook every day, Pork Chops two or 3 times a week, meatloaf, pot roast good stuff. We also have an outdoor nursery section in the fall will have pumpkins, Mums, we'll have hay bales and corn stocks pans. Is uh be a lot of fun for the kids and and a lot of fun for adults too. We have a lot of customers that come here that that say they don't have to go to grocery store no more because we got bread and milk and eggs and fruits and meats and everything you need. It's always been a dream to do this, but I just had to work all those years to get there, you know, across the hurdles. I'm meteorologist, Amy Wilmoth in the WRL severe weather center tracking a cold front that will move through the state throughout the day. Today, we'll have some light rain with this perhaps moderate rain at times, but most of you won't get a ton of rain. It's just going to be some light passing showers at four o'clock this afternoon, we'll still have some rain showing up on the radar scattered showers possible. Uh, basically anywhere aside from our northern counties, our northern counties should be dry at that point by 5 p.m. or so. The rain is south of the triangle impacting our southern counties during the evening. Commute, still some showers around in our southern counties at 7 p.m. But beyond that, the rain will start to move out and it will be dry overnight tonight. And we're back to sunshine as we head into tomorrow. Look at how much rain we could get. It's less than 1/10 of an inch of rain. So we're not going to get much out of this system, but at least it's something, it's our only rain chance in the next seven days. So we'll have some light rain moving through thanks to the cold front, temperatures will likely get into the low eighties in our southern counties where we'll have sunshine a little bit longer. 74 for the high in Raleigh and Durham, 75 in Roxboro, 73 for the high temperature in South Hill, Virginia. So temperatures running pretty close to normal throughout the day today. Good news. If you're headed to the Bulls game this evening at 635 it looks like the rain will be out of here. We have a 20% chance for rain, but the best chance will be in the southern part of the viewing area, 70 degrees, the expected temperature at 6 p.m. 68 by seven and in the mid six by 8 p.m. So maybe take the jacket or the sweater with you as temperatures fall into the sixties starting around seven o'clock or so. So we have passing showers today. Generally light rain a little breezy at times with the high of 74 tonight, we'll have mostly clear skies. We'll get down to 51 beautiful weather. Thursday, partly cloudy to mostly sunny with a high of 72. Pretty much the same thing on Friday. Temperatures will be in the low seventies for highs. We're up to 76 Saturday and then low eighties by Sunday, mid to upper eighties for high temperatures in the forecast for Monday and Tuesday of next week.

Brian Shrader flies over the site of a plane crash at Raleigh-Durham International Airport approximately three hours after the accident.

Seen some activity just in the past 10 minutes or so. I want to take you outside Sky five right now for a live look at the scene. We saw a van being escorted to the runway there and someone got out and now there appears to be a really careful inspection of the debris going on. So we're working to confirm if that may be the NTSB investigation team arriving at the scene. Let's zoom out and give you some about where this is. There are two main runways at RDU International and this is in the grassy field next to the runway that mostly serves terminal one on the east side of the airport, that runway remains closed while this investigation continues at the top of your screen. That is the other main runway that serves terminal two, mostly that runway is open. So we have two things going on here that could affect your flights for the rest of the day and maybe even into tomorrow, the airport takeoff and landing capacity is roughly reduced by half because they are only working with one runway. And if you have a flight coming out of terminal one, maybe Southwest, you're going to have to take that crossover all the way out to that other runway. It's going to add a lot of extra time.

A UNC Health physician and pilot were taken to the hospital Wednesday after a small plane crashed at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU).

RDU Airport Authority gives an update on a plane crash that sent a physician and pilot to the hospital. The crash occurred Wednesday morning on a flight that took off from Wilmington.

<p>Landguth first, I want to extend my thoughts to those affected by this morning's aircraft accident and thank our first responders for their quick action to respond. The airport authority and its mutual aid partners responded to an aircraft accident at RDU involving a general aviation aircraft. The accident occurred at approximately 10:10 a.m. in the grass next to runway five, right 23 left. The flight was arriving from Wilmington, North Carolina. The A the aircraft is owned by medical Air Inc and operated by UN C air operations. The aircraft had two people on board, one pilot and one passenger. Both were transported to area hospitals. The federal A Bush administration issued a ground stop that was lifted at approximately 1130 this morning. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have both been notified. The National Transportation Safety Board is en route and expected to arrive within the next hour at which time we will conduct an accident investigation. Rdu's runway five left 23 right reopened to departing and arriving aircraft around 11:30 a.m. this morning. Are you experiencing approximately 70 delays and several arriving flights were diverted to other airports? Until ground stock was lifted, travelers should contact their airline for the latest updates regarding the flight status. And of course questions about the identity and condition of the pilot and passenger should be directed to UN C health. And at this time I'll try to answer any questions. You may have, uh, the one, any other accidents in, in the past. I'm not familiar with any other accidents have occurred with that operation. I don't know, uh, that's the role of the National Transportation Safety Board. They'll actually come in and do the investigation. Uh, and at some point in the future, they write up a report and determine what the cause of the accident was. You know, that there was no notification to the airport authority or to the FAA uh about any type of emergency on board. Do we have a guy? We don't, all we know that we've got them out of the airplane and we've got them transported to local hospitals. We know situations like this and delays have a ripple effect on, you know, flights. Do you have any idea what type of impact we'll see here in our view and for not sure, but what we're going to encourage everybody to do is reach out to your airlines. We'll be able to give you real time information about the impact of your particular flight. Ok. I believe some of them went to Greensboro and I think a couple went to Charlotte as well. What, what to be impacted due to the NTSD. Say that one more time at this point in time, what we call the west side of our airport is now open the investigation they'll conduct will all be on the east side. So at this point, we are anticipating normal operations returning to normal operations from this point forward. I don't think that anything that they're doing regarding the investigation or where they would have to investigate would have any impact to the west side of the airport. No, the aircraft is still on the airfield itself. It's on the east side of the field. So terminal one that runways the east side of the field, that's where the debris field actually sits, the west side of the field is open and operational and safe to operate. Not that I'm aware of in operations for you throughout this event today. What was your main concern concerning the passengers that were in the internals? Right. I think our primary focus when, when that accident occurred were the two people sitting in that aircraft? Our primary mission is to make sure we can get to them and try to rescue them and try to make sure that we can get them in a safe condition as fast as we possibly can. Uh secondarily is trying to figure out then how we recover and get our operations back up and running. Mhm. How does that affect? What goes on term? Yeah, so great. Question. So the team has figured out a way to get all the aircraft they're gonna operate at terminal one. Your Southwest develops. Uh We've got a crossover taxi way that we can actually get them through our general aviation aircraft. We've got a crossover taxiway, we can get them to. But the rest of the uh accident scene is actually kind of isolated and closed and locked off. Yeah, you're terminal one at this point in time. Once they can get back on their schedule, it's going to be a normal operations. All right. Thank you guys. All right. Thank you. Grab your phone, right.</p>
