tonight on out. Nobody. Welcome to Wilkesboro north Carolina. There's so many great adventures to have in the outdoors of Wilkes County. Our whole purpose with this concert was to bring the community together around a common goal. There's over 100 nonprofits that we're gonna be supporting the annual rock for hope is now a drive thru but guaranteed fun. Welcome to Lawrence barbecue. What I'm passionate about is creating memories for folks via food. Everyone missed the north Carolina state, even a museum that's full of history. There's a great fun for everyone. Cooks, outfitters is our next or main store and we want to be right down here in downtown Wilkesboro to do bike rentals. Kayak rentals. Just be a part of the park. This right here, the bike trails down the hill. It's a great central location for us, bookstore, has a little bit of everything for outdoor activities. We have one of the best disc golf courses in the state. We have world class bike trails, kayaking and boating at the reservoir. So if you have a couple or a family and somewhat the mountain bike, someone to be on the greenway. So I just want to shop. There's things to do for everybody. Stardust sellers is a mystery and winery based in Wilkesboro. We are a biodynamic vineyard, which is pretty unusual for the areas. We actually have sheep as our lawn mowers. There's no irrigation, there's no fertilizers used. So start a seller's prides itself on its ancestral methods that we utilize because it really showcases what nature can do effectively. We have a clean and natural method, something that's funky, really keeps and preserves those fruity flavors, but also giving every single drink that we produce its own funky flair so we'll never, never end up with board customers here. It started sellers taproom, we have a dog park, we have a deck, a large beer garden. We have live bands, play every week, employee to come down to Wilkesboro to experience start a seller's taproom for yourself. It's a lovely community and a beautiful place to spend a vacation or a weekend. Historic city building was built in 18 94 as the original Wilkes Hotel, currently in the smoothie building. We have mother of foods and smoothies and julie's grill and tavern julie's grill and tavern is the restaurant we specialize in gluten free foods, vegan foods, dairy free. Um, we cater to all the special requests that are in the dietary needs. So when you come into dual, Israel's having looking over the menu a lot of times, you'll be overwhelmed. There's so much to pick from. It's really hard to say what would be a favorite. The Philly steaks are absolutely humongous when you order one of those, you definitely will see why we say no one leaves hungry from Dooley's. We slow roast all of our fillies are rare roast beefs French tips. We make Oliver meets Turkey's, everything slow roasted in house. We had cut off all our French fries, potato chips. So when you come in, we say we homemade, make it about 98% of the menu is all homemade. Two boroughs brewery and pizzeria has been our newest addition to the downtown. It is a wood fired brick oven pizza. We brew Oliver beer in house tray church. Our brewmaster has been brewing from 26 years now. We decided we want to do something that was gonna be a little more of a specialty approach instead of just your regular pizza. So we decided the brick oven would be a great alternative And with that, all the flavor comes from those wood fired. We like to focus on an apple and cherrywood or an oak which burns a little bit higher, but it does great for getting the pieces cooked in around a minute and a half to two minutes each pizza often they will take us a little longer to make the pizzas than it will to actually cook pizzas. Some of the most unexpected things you'll find on the menu or the beer cheese nachos are subs such as our italian sub or wedge salads or my personal favorite. We'd love to see everybody come visit us at toulouse to burrows mother earth and see what Wilkesboro has to offer. For more information on the beautiful parts of downtown Wilksbehr follow us on instagram and facebook are go to explore Wilkesboro dot com. Yeah, Welcome to the 2021 North Carolina State Fair. We are not your typical barbecue joint. We literally make everything in this, in this little shop from scratch. Mhm. Yeah. Mhm. Yeah. Mhm. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. Mm. Yeah. Mm. Mhm. Oh mm. Mhm. Yeah. For the past 20 years we've been connecting the community to nonprofits through the power of live music. Let's face it. This past year and a half has been tough for everyone. And so really our whole purpose with this concert was to bring the community together around a common goal and that was to support one another. Its collective healing. It's all about collective power and the sense of being greater together. We're hoping to raise $1 million $10,000 check to our 100 funded partners working again on the front lines of this pandemic and it means they get a $10,000 check that they can use to continue to do their work. Diaper Bank of north Carolina's, an organization that provides diapers period products and adult common supplies to families living in poverty in north Carolina During the pandemic. We've seen a 400% increase in Diaper requests. An 800% increase in period products and a 2000% increase in adult incontinence supplies. There is a lot of talk about food insecurity, which is so important. It is also important to know that 100% of the time if someone is struggling for food, then they're struggling to afford hygiene items. So undesignated funds that come from an event like this help us purchase the sizes that we need when we need them. So many times we get donations of certain sizes and we're lacking certain sizes. So we're at a point in our organization were buying way more diapers than we ever have in the history of the work that we've done and funds like this and events like this raise awareness. They amplify our work and they help us meet the need that we're seeing in the community. People like Michelle at the diaper bank. Um, they're working nonstop with families with babies, older people, people in need that really, really need our support. And these leaders, these nonprofits, they need our support and it's not just a one size fits all. We have to get all of them throughout this. So there's over 100 nonprofits that we're gonna be supporting and that is really powerful. It's not the time to be picking your favorite nonprofit. We need to help them all. So the event is sold out, but follow band together and see on any social media, you can get a chance to win some tickets. V. I. P tickets to the events were also doing giveaways on 95.7 FM. That station so you can tune in and win tickets that way. But we still need you. There's lots of ways to get involved, whether you're donating, whether you're volunteering for the event itself or whether you're just spreading the word, we need you, our community needs you. So join us. Let's gathered together around this common goal of supporting 100 nonprofits in the triangle. If you want to learn more about the event or ways to get involved, check out band together and see dot org. We got it all there for you. Welcome to Lawrence Barbecue way. So Lawrence barbecue is a little barbecue shop, period box yard RTP. And we sell fresh smoked barbecue meats and fresh north Carolina oysters. Lawrence barbecue came about just as an idea and a desire. I had to get involved in a little bit more laid back style of cooking, which is barbecue is something that I can relate to kind of what our family reunions revolved around was a whole hall cooking oysters in a burlap sack on the fire. And it's something that is really just stuck with me. I got very involved with fine dining and tweezing herbs and flowers on the plates for a while and I've found out really quickly that it's not what I was passionate about. What I'm passionate about is creating memories for folks via food. So our food program at Lawrence barbecue is driven by our smoked meats every single day. We smoked fresh brisket, pork butts, we do a texas style brisket and then we have a sticky style ribs, ST louis ribs. We do a fried chicken sandwich, we've got smoked sliced turkey. That's great. Sometimes we do features like a smoked pork belly corn dog. That's a great item to look out for. Um recently we've been featuring some brisket, very a grilled cheese, which is a great movie, folks love that. It's a really nice, just kind of full flavored bite with everyone outside of that. We have the oysters, we get those directly from N. C. Oyster company, which is owned and farmed by some good friends of ours there in topical sounds so we, we stand pretty firmly behind that product. That's the best oyster that I've ever had. We've gotta Raul that we use with a mignonette and then we have a barbecue oyster that we have a secret barbecue butter that we use on the grill and they're phenomenal. We sell out pretty much every week of those. Our side fixings are reimagined classics or mash ups of classic favorites, like a deviled egg potato salad. Two of my favorite things. I love a good cold potato salad and I love even more, a good cold deviled egg. And we also have like a broccoli caesar, which is something that you don't typically see at a barbecue restaurant or really anywhere. It's a shaved raw broccoli. We make a homemade caesar dressing. We deep fry embryos and crumble that on top with some cotija cheese. Very fresh. It's a nice cold chris bike to cut into the fatty mouth feel of the barbecue. Fox yard RTP is a up cycled mixed use cargo shipping container complex. We've got food and beverage. We've got retail. We've got a beauty shop, clothing store, We've got a CBD shop, cotton candy store, all local owners. We're a small team. We work hard. We feed a lot of people every day and we're honestly just thankful to be able to come to a place that makes us feel good and do what we love to do every day. I don't think we could ask for much more than that. I would say our barbecue is a progression of what we know as traditional barbecue, not only here in north Carolina, but other reasons as well. We try to stick to the basics and nod our head to the folks who have done it before us, but also elevated in ways that we see fit based on what we know. We are not your typical barbecue joint. We literally make everything in this in this little shop from scratch. It's not an easy way of doing things. We cook every single one of our meat using live fire. Uh, oak and hickory mix, we chose the hard way to do it because we think it's the right way to do it. So we know we're doing it the right way, we're not cutting any corners, There were 70 off red, so that's kind of what we're all about. We are here Tuesday through saturday at box yard serving our full menu of fresh meats and we welcome you guys to come out and hang with us, let us cook for you, come catch a vibe and tell your friends. Yeah. Mhm. Mhm. Mhm. Mhm. Yeah. Yeah. Mhm. Yeah. Yeah. Well yeah, it does look like rosie all day. I'm Jamie Caskey. This is Sarah King. If we do a podcast called wine and Danny because why? It's fun and we intend to prove it and we do live by the roses all day and all year long because why not? But we wanted to talk about he whispering Angel phenomenon, that's been going on. It's insane. You watch tv, you listen to music Airbase talking about everybody craig heavily here from one authorities. You've got all kinds of wine cases similar to whispering angel. Yeah, definitely whispering Angel is cooked to Provence rose a it's that real pale clear kind of style. It's very dry, very refreshing. And this winery that we are very uh close with good friends with makes a very tiny production, it's about 1% of less than 1% of what whispering angel is. So it's all hands. Maybe it's the handcrafted. Better brother though, I would say. Yeah. So if somebody wants to get out of there whispering Angel, what what should they trust or say funny even better. That sounds like a very valued whispering angel is what? $22, $25 a bother. But it's not cheap, like a Tuesday night, I'm sorry. Yeah. Oh it smells lovely. You swallow it, there's no sweetness, it's just like completely dry and juicy. Yeah, that's terrific. Alright, what's next? The next would be like the direct equivalent of what whispering angel is. It's the same appellations, same basic blend except this is made in that microscopic kind of quantity compared to that behemoth. That's right, okay. Oh sorry, that's my cue. So how much does this bottle one? This is $15 a bottle still very affordable and it's on the same level as the Spring Angel. Oh, I get basically the same note actually. Maybe a little touch more like fennel root kind of aroma to it. So like really, yeah, very crisp and fruity. But it also has like this nice little lift. Yeah, that's very nice. It is not, you're right, it's not quite as light but it is still really light. Really? That is delicious. Oh my it's got a little more body to it. It does. Yeah. And the color is it's actually a little bit lighter than the first one But it's more rich. Yeah, colour isn't always gonna let you know how something's gonna taste good to know. That's great. Okay. This is the big boy. This is the adult version of a party in the box. Yeah, absolutely. What we like to think of it as like home wine by the glass. This is $30. So you break that down. It's like $7 a bottle for organic Provence. Rose a We want to thank you for joining us at wine authorities today as we go over the wines wine authorities downtown Raleigh they have an endurance to come by, grab a glass, browse the store. Revolution Ridge has expanded the size of our zoo. It's doubled the size. We have a whole bunch of new species and new exhibits. The first one that you're going to come to our, the cassowaries. These birds are about 5 to 6 ft tall and their rat sites, which means that there are more adapted to walking and running instead of flying or swimming like penguin. The next exhibit, You're gonna come to features are, oh, copy bakery. This is the only living relative to giraffes. So you'll often see him with his long neck up in the trees using that tongue to grab some leaves, pull them down for a little snack, ralph and holly are two pygmy hippos so they weigh about 10 times less than the traditional river hippos. They're native to West Africa and one of their major concerns is actually illegal gold mining. So you'll see the exhibit looks a little bit like a gold mine. To help us tell that story. Our small cat complex currently houses three different species of cats. Our sand cat Layla is in an indoor only exhibit. She's from a desert environment. So our heat humidity is just a little bit too much for her. Here are serval, she's got really long legs that are absolutely perfect for jumping and climbing. So you might actually see her walking or jumping up into that walkway to get in and out. Our red pandas which are Greensboro Science and our favorite. They have a brand new exhibit in Revolution Ridge. For more information, visit our website Greensboro Science dot org. Mhm. Mhm. Yeah. Mhm. Mhm. Okay. Yeah.
