tonight on out and about. You've seen the T rex, you've seen a stegosaurus. These animals are just as much fun, but they're like nothing you've ever seen before. Our brand new butterfly house is now open for guests to come in and get to experience a beautiful garden and native species of butterflies. People of all ages, all skill levels from kids to pros at the sport. There's something for everybody to do. Kelly max is just a blend of mexican flavors. People are really surprised that we have a lot of unique dishes on the menu go out and about. Yeah, welcome this online. Salt and lime is just our dream of having a different style mexican restaurant that's more Cali Mex or coastal Mex. So Cali max is just a blend of mexican flavors. People are really surprised that we have a lot of unique dishes on the menu. We have a mango salad with chicken, we have cable rolls that are super delicious with a spicy ranch. We have barbecue mahi tacos, we have delicious salmon, berry crews. Everything here is, is made fresh daily. All the juices from the bar to the kitchen and we're very proud of that. You know, the food here is always good, always delicious. A lot of dishes have a cult following the salmon. We use great Canadian and blending salmon. We do it with a black bean cake, sauteed spinach and butter with some chili flake a little salt and pepper and then the salmon goes on top and then we do a roja sauce. It was just a red pepper butter, cream sauce, avocado and then a little bit of just PICO on top Bangkok shrimp tacos, just delicious. We do with a mango, pineapple salsa, caribbean salsa with some napa cabbage and romaine. Mix on the tortilla, fried shrimp. We just toss the shrimp in some seasoned flour. Quickly, flash fry them and then kind of glaze them with a honey, chipotle glaze, serve those up with some just some really crispy rice noodles and some sriracha mayonnaise, surf and turf burrito is by far the most popular shoulder tender. Fresh shrimp sauteed down with some sofrito, a little bit of a little bit of caramelized onions rolled up in a burrito with some rice, a little bit of PICO on top to garnish and fresh cilantro. College Street chicken is a half a chicken but flattened out. We see it on the flat top almost all the way on the skin. So you get a nice crispy skin and then we cover it with our adobo sauce served with rice. The chicken goes on top of that with some bacon. Really good flavors. We try to make every dish is really flavorful as we possibly can. Our margaritas are super fun. We have over 70 different tequila. So I have 17 different margaritas. We have a base of lime margarita, prickly pear, but orange people really enjoy the balance of a peach habanero, margarita, you know, unique flavors that you don't get everywhere and it's just something really fun for all kinds of different types and flavors and people that like to travel and enjoy good food and good drinks. What we wanted to recreate is what would it be like to, to dine on a beach or dine outside underneath the stars. And it started looking at all of these star lights and these beautiful decorations, having an open ceiling really lended to the atmosphere of being outdoors and that's what we were really going for. It's just a fun kind of beach vibe, the star lights plants everywhere and it's just a really fun environment that people really just enjoy being around. It's just a nice escape and and you know, the food complements the hard work that we put into the atmosphere and at the end of the day you got to have, you know, something that's a good value. I mean we want them to walk away going, I can't wait to go back. We're very proud of this place. It's taken a lot of hard work and it's just a fun environment. We have great kitchen staff, it's, it's a family that we've created here. You'll really enjoy being here with us and we hope to make your experience super fun and pleasurable where you're gonna come back on a date night or bring your friends or family and have a birthday with us. Show two, we have Dr Christian camera who is an expert on this period in the Earth's history. So we're using a lot of his expertise to augment this show and in fact we have some of the discoveries that he himself made all around the world on display. Even though you know, I'm telling you these are weird animals, I think you will be shocked at how strange they are. Like these are some of the most bizarre creatures that ever lived. Um And I think what is most shocking is that they're related to us that they are, you know, are distant distant relatives, probably something that you never expected to have in your ancestry. But there it is as a scientist, I focus on the origin of mammals and on mass extinctions, both of which are occurring in the permian. So we're seeing some of the earliest members of the mammalian lineage and trying to understand how they first, you know, evolved hair and you know start producing milk and got different types of teeth. Um how they survived when the dinosaurs basically took over the world in the Mesozoic era. The mass extinction at the end of the permian, wiped out Somewhere between 80 and 90% of species on Earth. Why did that happen? What species were at risk? How can we avoid similar mass extinctions in the future? Um We do have a series of little dig pits for the kids in here. So kids will have a lot of fun both seeing sort of the animatronics and the models of these creatures as well as trying to dust off some of their fossils. And then there's also, you know, all of this is new graphics put together by the museum to really help, you know, contextualize and you know, I think make a lot more intelligible some of these very obscure and at times difficult topics we call them permanent monsters. Some of them are actually quite cute. Uh I think going through, you know, that'll really, really come out. My favorite one is probably bulb a saurus, which is a small design it on. It's a little tusked creature kind of pig like with a turtle like beak, which is an animal I described from the Permian of South Africa a few years ago. I hope people come out of this exhibit realizing that there's a lot more to the fossil record than just dinosaurs and that there is an almost endless series of incredible life forms that have existed on earth for the past, you know, 500 million years. Um, and that there's sort of a lot more to learn about than just sort of what you might see at the multiplex. It's a very family friendly show and we really like to be able to bring in things that are great for kids as well as grownups. We're proud to present this exhibition in english and spanish, which is part of a program to be bilingual throughout the museum life before dinosaurs. We have seven different species that live in the live in the house, painted ladies and american ladies, giant swallowtails and tiger swallowtails. And of course the iconic monarch butterfly. Hi, welcome to the Greensboro Science Center. We are currently standing in the cole family monarch Conservation center and butterfly house. Our brand new butterfly house is now open to the public for guests to come in and get to experience a beautiful garden and a variety of native species of butterflies. We have seven different species that live in the house. They range from painted ladies and american ladies to larger butterflies like giant swallowtails and tiger swallowtails and of course the iconic monarch butterfly. So butterflies have a life cycle that has different phases. Hopefully we will see all phases here in the butterfly house because we do have host plants. So we will definitely see adults. Right? We'll have flying butterflies on the plants and sometimes on the ground we may see eggs on the plants because we have the host plants. If we have eggs, we will have caterpillars. So we'll see caterpillars here consuming those host plants. There may be chrysalis or the cocoon phase on those host plants, but if not, there are chrysalis chrysalis chamber, which is a space that you see prior to entering the garden. So we call it our Conservation center. In addition to a butterfly house and we do so because of the message and the story that we're telling in here pollinators are in dire need of health, particularly things like our monarch butterflies. And this space shows our guests what they can do in their own backyard, in a pot on their patio, whatever it. Maybe you can help these butterflies by having either host plants or just nectar rich plants because they absolutely need those for different parts of their life cycle, monarch butterflies are one of our safe species and safe is an acronym for saving animals from extinction. So monarchs are fascinating butterflies, their iconic, everybody knows that beautiful large orange and black butterfly, but we've also seen their numbers declining over the years. And what we're looking to do here is to show the story of the monarch butterfly to talk about the different life phases and how you can get involved and help them be it planting those pollinator plants, planting milkweed or assisting in monarch counts and their organizations where you can count monarch caterpillars or the adults and submit that information to a global database. So we have a really good understanding of just how many individuals are still out there. We have more than just butterflies to see. We have augmented reality. We have virtual experiences prior to reaching the butterfly house where you can do a digital coloring of a butterfly, You can watch videos about the monarchs lifecycle. In addition to visiting the butterfly house, we have our amazing butterflies maze, which is a really fun experience where guests of all ages can try their luck at getting through the maze and learning what life is like as a butterfly. What do they smell? What do they see? How do they fly? What does that feel like and get that experience and try to go the right way to avoid things that might be, I don't know, toxic or predators. And while you're in there, we encourage guests to touch and experience it, which is fun and very different from the butterfly house where we asked guests to not touch anything, butterflies may touch you, but we ask you to not touch them. The butterfly house does have a capacity so we do encourage all of our guests to download the Greensboro Science Center app prior to arriving, the app is necessary to get in a queue to enter the butterfly house. You also use the app for those fun activities like the augmented reality. So we highly recommend doing that. Both the butterfly house and the amazing butterflies maze are included with our general mission. We highly encourage our guests to purchase your tickets online. Prior to visiting at Greensboro Science dot org, Welcome to Rock Solid Warrior. My son's got into the sport about four years ago and before I knew it, they were competing at the national level and getting onto the show if you've ever seen the show, American ninja warrior, you've seen people hanging from obstacles going up salmon ladders going up warped walls, but we have most of those things here and a lot more. So when you walk in the door, first thing you'll see is a lot of obstacles, you can expect to have a lot of fun. You always be greeted by one of our coaches will be showing some of the basic, some of the safety people of all ages, all skill levels from kids to pros at the sport, there's something for everybody to do, whether you're interested in the sport of ninja warrior or rock climbing. The sport of ninja warrior started actually in Japan with a show called Sasuke. Soon that started to grow and became the sport of american ninja warrior, you see on television, very similar concept, very intense obstacle course over water, the farthest, the fastest there's multiple stages. Obviously when you see the show the first time you think there's no way I could ever do that, it's a lot of technique and once you practice it just like anything else, you practice, you get better. I was on American Ninja Warrior season 11, I did pretty well, I got to stage one on the national finals in Vegas, almost got to the end, but didn't quite do well enough to make it to stage two, all of our coaches have been on the show and compete at a very high level, so they really know what they're doing. Salmon ladder is one of the classic ninja warrior obstacles, you'll see it almost every gym, it's where you have a bar and there's a rung and you have to jump the bar up to the next rung in order to progress up the ladder. The warped wall is another classic american ninja warrior obstacle. It is a curved wall where you have to use momentum and technique to run up, grab the top and climb over top. We have a six ft 9 ft 12 ft 14.5 and 18 ft wall lashes are something that you'll see. A lot of ninja warrior O'shea is referred to any time that you swing from a bar or any object where you release both hands so you're flying through the air and catch on to the next obstacle or bar. The devil steps are a great ninja warrior obstacle. We have two levels here at rock solid, we have the devil bars and we have the devil steps, both are ascending and descending ladder. They have to climb up using only your hands. We also have circuit boards where you have two different handles and a track, you have to either slide the handles down or we have the advanced version where there's holes and you have to hop the handle out, put it into the next hole if somebody wants to come just to rock climb and aren't so into the ninja warrior, we have about 40 50 different routes, so there's plenty to do if you're just interested in the rock climbing lots of times people will come in just for the rock climbing, but after looking at the ninja stuff for a while they say, yeah, that's pretty fun and they can go and try that as well. We offer numerous programs here at Rock Solid Warrior, we offer day camps, half day, full day and full week. We offer numerous classes, parents, night out, open gyms and birthday parties. A lot of kids who come here do lots of different sports, but this is really a unique sport and so they can start off um, from doing some of the simplest obstacles too close to the end of the days, trying some of the hard obstacles they think that they might never complete. As you can see, we put padding everywhere, we really want this to be a safe environment for your kids. We want the kids to come and have a blast and send them home tired. So whether this is the first time you've ever seen an obstacle or whether you're a seasoned pro, we have something for you. Our goal is to have ninja gyms every 20 minutes, so you'll never be more than 10 minutes away from a great ninja gym and we're so excited about opening our brand new facility in apex on june 13th, it's over 14,000 square feet featuring a mezzanine and we've even been selected recently to host a ninja sport championship finals next february. So if you've never experienced the sport of ninja warrior or even just climbed an obstacle, you don't have to have any experience, Most people don't and everybody's beginner sometimes. So come on out, there's something about Iceland, I think it's the vistas. You know, there's, there's something kind of humbling about feeling relatively insignificant compared to these, to these huge mountains that we have to offer. Yeah, just welcome to Iceland. This is from the waterfall. Yeah, Iceland Is as you know, a small nation, Icelanders were only 350,000 people. Iceland is as beautiful as any other place you can go to. There's something about Iceland. I think it's the vistas. You know, there's something kind of humbling about feeling relatively insignificant compared to these huge mountains that we have to offer. Absolutely stunning. Hi, I'm ears were at Portland, we're now inside the museum wonders of Iceland. And this is the exhibition about water in Iceland here in Portland. You can find many different things. We have a restaurant, we have museum planetarium where you can learn about the Northern Lights as well as a zipline and and adventure park. So the star of the show here in Portland is our ice cave. So we have a manmade ice cave here inside the building, took five tons of kilos to bring the ice to, to the ice cave and we made it here. You can walk through it. It's 100 m and it's very cool. You're all welcome to come and visit us here at Portland in Iceland, Reykjavik. We are very nice in a way to visit because we like people, we are, we are friendly and overall I think it's just a very relaxing and at the same time a visit full of exercise or or excitement. Hi, I'm music. Welcome to tides and tonight we're making dover sole with carrots and scallop broth. So this is a dover sole, it's locally farmed in Iceland. This is a very unique fish. It's not very commonly used in Iceland. So we use salt and oil And then we have a really hot grill and it takes like 2-3 minutes. So we start with the skin side because we want to get the skin crispy and ice and then we flip it over and we're just getting the final touches and there's a lot of flavor in the skin. We have locally grown Icelandic carrots. So in Iceland we try to use everything and then we finish this course off with a beautiful scallop broth sauce. So I would recommend the addition. We have a lot of local ingredients, a lot of great fish and shellfish. I think the food is outstanding. And Iceland in general, Why should people come to Iceland? We get this question a lot. The nature in general. I love you can hike everywhere to just to roam around and you stop somewhere in your car. Absolutely incredible landscapes. And that's just when you first land in Iceland, there's a whole island to explore as well. So definitely worth the visit. Mm. Mhm. That music fest with the mountain goats, steep canyon rangers nip. So american aquarium, delta ray and more. Hi, everyone. Meteorologist Anthony Baglione here on this Thursday where of course, we're tracking a whole lot of sunshine here across the state. We take a look outside. It is beautiful out there. Sunshine. We have warm temperatures on the way for us today. Let's talk about the kind of what we have headed this way over the next couple of days. Besides the sunshine. Today, we have a warm Thursday ahead. It's gonna be hot today near 90 this afternoon. Spotty storms though into tomorrow looks like mainly after about two o'clock into tomorrow evening. Spotty is gonna be a good word for it and I'll show you future cast here in just a second. Better rain chances though by the time we get into our Sunday afternoon, Sunday evening, that will be a time period to plan on some rainfall coming through. Otherwise we go today to 87 this afternoon. Some spots Fayetteville, for instance, could hit 90. Certainly. I think it's a good bet for us. 40% chance of some showers and storms though. Tomorrow afternoon does jump up though into Sunday mainly during the evening and then Sunday night, talking about tomorrow though. We do from the storm prediction center have out a risk of some strong to severe storms. The overall threat as it stands right now looks very low. This does not look like a huge severe weather event, but they have us outline in that potential. Nonetheless, we go through futurecast. Here's lunchtime on our Friday. We may have a couple light areas of rainfall. By that point. I think the better chances that would be again after two o'clock or so, mainly from the triangle to the south could see a few pop up storms. This is not a widespread tons of rainfall kind of event for us. And then this gets out of here, maybe just a few lingering spotty showers into tomorrow night for the most part though. If you're headed out into the next couple of days, no big problems until we get into our Sunday with more rain. We go to 87 today, 83 tomorrow, really cooling off there with the rainfall into Sunday at 6365 on Monday. Like I said, best chances of rain come in for us into Sunday afternoon, Sunday night and then should be tapering off by the time we get into early Monday morning of next week.
