This month, get into the holiday spirit with a visit to the Shopps on Main, Bailey's Fine Jewelry, a'Verde Cocina, Fenton, Il Palio and the NC Museum of History.

tonight. On out and about. This is a landmark location, Right? I mean people are coming out here to experience Fenton. This exhibit really showcases and highlights these women throughout country music history when you walk in the front door, it's almost like a gift that just keeps right on giving. When you come here, you're gonna get foot, you're gonna get amazing drinks, you gonna get an experience, go out and about. This exhibit was produced by the Grammy Museum in L. A. And so we're really excited that it came here to the north Carolina Museum of History. This exhibit really showcases artifacts, bio stories, interviews, songwriting lyrics, props, just so much stuff that really kind of tells a story and highlights these women throughout country music history. The early women like Sarah and Maybelle carter and they're just super extremely influential in the country music genre and they inspired so many women and men after them Rose Matic. So a lot of people probably have never heard of and she really kind of helped push in the honky tonk genre, so many dresses and so many instruments and that's another thing. It's like you're not only gonna see really beautiful gowns and dresses and outfits in this exhibit. There's also a lot of instruments. So we also have an interactive here that allows visitors to view and hear a variety of pretty traditional country music instruments like the fiddle and the mandolin and the auto heart. Visitors can come and touch these instruments and here's what they sound like. So it's a really fun and popular interactive Fans of Taylor Swift will definitely be happy to see a variety of different costumes and outfits and dresses that she's worn. We have this replica cabin that she performed on and in and the 2020 Grammy Awards and it's a it's a really beautiful moment. We have the dress that she wore for that performance as well. So I know those swifty fans out there will be really excited to see those. We were able to add our own little special section that really focuses on north Carolina's connection to country music and history. We also have a copy um from Myrtle cooper Wiseman, also known as lulu belle, It's called Have I Told You lately that I Love You? And it was actually, you know, the credit writing credit is for her to her husband, Scott Wiseman, but the legend has it is that when scott was in the hospital, Myrtle went to him and whispered in his ear, have I told you lately that I love you? And so that inspired him to write this song. We have some boots that Emmylou Harris wore on her blue Kentucky girl album, released in 1979. That was like a really, really interesting album because at that time her record album wanted her to go more pop and she wanted to stick even more bluegrass and more old country style. We also have in this section, the microphone that received Palmer used for her original podcast, Color me country. And so this is such an important podcast that she continues recording because it really does focus on those kind of untold stories throughout country music history. And she based that podcast title on the album by linda Martell, who was actually the first african american woman to perform at the Grand Ole Opry. Part of the Power of Women in Country Music exhibit is the Southern Songbirds concert series. It highlights contemporary artists that are local to north Carolina. All of these women represent different voices within the genre and are breaking through barriers that were created long ago. Each and every one of them is very involved in their community and this exhibit really is about women being strong together. Um and I think that the concert series really amplifies that message even if you're not a fan of country music, there's really something for everyone in this exhibit because the country music, a lot of these artists crossover into bluegrass, into gospel, into pop into rock. And so there's really something for everyone. We definitely invite you to come and view this really, really remarkable fun, empowering exhibit. I feel like because we have so much to offer from Children to grandparents. Something for everybody. It's surprising because when you walk in the front door and you think it's just 11 store. But when you come in and get the walking down the hall and it just opens up, it's almost like a gift that just keeps right on giving. So the shops on main is a one stop gift shop. If you need a holiday dress, we are your destination for that. We have everything from short to long evening dresses, almost something that anyone could wear for the holiday season. You know, it's that time of year when people like to celebrate family tradition and they can always find that something here to help them grandma and granddad the Children, the cool thing is santa's here every weekend, um, saturday and sunday all the way to christmas eve, ho ho ho come on out to shops of main and few clave arena and I'm gonna be here every saturday and sunday you can get a picture with santa on your Children, your family. So entertaining is a huge part of the holidays and we have a lot to offer for that here at the shops on main. We have happy everything which are amazing for any kind of entertaining. We are mexican restaurants but we are not your traditional mexican restaurant, a casino and tequila. It's the most unique restaurant right now in Kerry. What makes us unique is we are mexican restaurants but we are not your traditional mexican restaurant. We utilize a lot of the north Carolina produce and seafood and then we mexican. Ize it with some hints of japanese culture because some half japanese, half mexican. My family influences a lot of the menu. There's dishes that were created by, by my dad. Some dishes were created by my mom. Some really good dishes were created by my grandmother. And then I just add some of that japanese umami and then we elevate the flavor. Some of the dishes that are like so close to my heart. It's number one my octopus taco traditionally octopus, you know you don't think about a taco but we braise our octopus and then we saute with a little bit of a chorizo. So we have the pork goodness. And then this octopus, we put it together, add some avocado and then you make the most amazing taco ever. Something very interesting. Our restaurant, believe it or not, it's like 98% gluten free. So everybody can come. And my famous corn bread that was invented by my grandmother in Mexico gluten free as well. So since we are in the Carolinas barbecue, it's extremely important. And then we have here one of the dishes that created barbecue in the Americas and it's called cochinita pibil. We presented in a way that it's a pork shank that it's been embraced for over 12 hours in a pivotal sauce. It's one of the dishes that once you taste it, it's like an explosion of flavors, corn tortillas. Yes, we have corn tortillas. But what makes our corn tortillas so unique. Well number one, we bring it from Mexico. Number two, it's heirloom. Number three organic and the most important part, it's a non Gmo corn, which you can find anywhere at least in north Carolina. And then we make it by hand one at a time. We are about coming and having an experience. I want you to come here, relax, get some food, get some drinks, throw a party, you know after Covid, I want all my restaurants to be an experience. You know, you can get food anywhere when you come here, you're gonna get food, you're gonna get amazing drinks, you're gonna get an experience. You're gonna take back home and talk about it for days. My favorite drink at a verde is hashtag take me back, you know, I want to go back and have fun and this cocktail, it's full of fun. It's a tequila based cocktail, almost like a margarita, but it's not, it's a frozen drink and then just in case you were looking for more fun, we add a popsicle that is made with mango and chili. I like when my drink fights back what's better than finishing your meal that with some sweets. Our sweets are quite different than most of your traditional mexican restaurants. We are famous for our UBE plan, your regular plan, but it has that japanese flavor that makes it so creamy and the color is just beautiful. This place, it's fun. It's a place you want to be seen. It's a place that you want to come and celebrate something because we make sure that the experience that you have here, you cannot find it anywhere, take a risk come over during the holidays. You drink it just like this or you can add a little Prosecco to it, which is my personal favorite is the true italian way to end your meal. Our next cocktail is going to be in a very old fashioned and I love playing with tomorrow. It's a DST from Sicily. Italy a good amount of like lemon essential oil and orange in this tomorrow. So pairing that with the Old forester um I find to be like a perfect pair. Mix the two with some um angus store bitters, put it over a big, big square ice cube and you can't go wrong. Next up we have a ginger infused aperol spritz, the housemaid infused syrup with orange zest and ginger and are adding that to kind of winterize an aperol spritz. So our take of an aperol spritz, we have fun pairing that with our imported superiority Prosecco and the three make it just a wonderful, more warm bubble option for guests. People always want an excuse to have an aperol spritz. It's not just a summer drink. Aperol spritzes are the most common drink in Italy festive and fun to toast with. Um it's an amazing environment and the people that take care of this area, they have so many amazing attractions, but also events that brings people together when they told us that they're trying to make sure that it's all local restaurants and local chefs and the fact that I knew most of these restaurateurs and chefs whom I respect immensely. Uh it was an easy call after after that Welcome to Drama draft. I've been in the downtown Raleigh area since 2008 and to watch that grow and develop has been really interesting. And then to see the same thing kind of start happening out in Kerry is really amazing to see and experience and to be part of it is, is almost overwhelming. I felt like joining a community, a family of restaurants and shops that were catered, you know, specifically from the kind of design, if you will. The particular advantage for me in my perspective especially is the ability to use all kinds of techniques of cooking that we wanted to do, whether it's charcoal grilling, uh, temporary frying right on the line for the freshness of eating fried item right up that or quickly if you will, it was quite an experience getting the place built and get it open, but this is a landmark location, right? I mean people are coming out here to experience Fenton, so we like to be showcased like that, it fits Fenton, but it also stands out. We were super excited to have the rooftop bar. That's something that I wanted since our very first location, we pretty much just opened the doors and we're busy. That's a great feeling, we're so busy out here already, that our goal is to just hire more people, keep training more people get more efficient so that we can keep up with the demand that we already have and the inevitable demand that's going to be building up. And I'm not just talking about the holidays. I mean just in general, it's a, it's a happening spot. You can feel it already an exciting thing that we're doing here that we are not enduring compared to is that we're really trying to go backwards and do less of what more traditional if you will. We're just trying to go do something very different different. We're really focusing on the rice and the ingredients and every restaurant are that way. But I think we're putting ourselves in a different level if you will and it's really exciting. I really like the idea of trying to work together as a team with the other restaurants and chefs to create a really good foodie area and that challenges us and we love, we love those kind of challenges. You know, every day we drive into the Fenton and it seems like there's so many upgrades and additions to this beautiful place. Uh, just, you know, ice skating rink, whether it is the reindeers that are made out, it looks like silver, almost ice looking sculptures. It's beautiful and every day seems to change and improve. So I hope you come and check the amazing things that they're doing here at Fenton and also at an associate here come out and see us at drama, draft Fenton, our fifth location higher end neighborhood bar. Hi, everyone. Meteorologist Anthony Baglione here on this Thursday where of course, we're tracking a whole lot of sunshine here across the state. We take a look outside. It is beautiful out there. Sunshine. We have warm temperatures on the way for us today. Let's talk about the kind of what we have headed this way over the next couple of days. Besides the sunshine. Today, we have a warm Thursday ahead. It's gonna be hot today near 90 this afternoon. Spotty storms though into tomorrow looks like mainly after about two o'clock into tomorrow evening. Spotty is gonna be a good word for it and I'll show you future cast here in just a second. Better rain chances though by the time we get into our Sunday afternoon, Sunday evening, that will be a time period to plan on some rainfall coming through. Otherwise we go today to 87 this afternoon. Some spots Fayetteville, for instance, could hit 90. Certainly. I think it's a good bet for us. 40% chance of some showers and storms though. Tomorrow afternoon does jump up though into Sunday mainly during the evening and then Sunday night, talking about tomorrow though. We do from the storm prediction center have out a risk of some strong to severe storms. The overall threat as it stands right now looks very low. This does not look like a huge severe weather event, but they have us outline in that potential. Nonetheless, we go through futurecast. Here's lunchtime on our Friday. We may have a couple light areas of rainfall. By that point. I think the better chances that would be again after two o'clock or so, mainly from the triangle to the south could see a few pop up storms. This is not a widespread tons of rainfall kind of event for us. And then this gets out of here, maybe just a few lingering spotty showers into tomorrow night for the most part though. If you're headed out into the next couple of days, no big problems until we get into our Sunday with more rain. We go to 87 today, 83 tomorrow, really cooling off there with the rainfall into Sunday at 6365 on Monday. Like I said, best chances of rain come in for us into Sunday afternoon, Sunday night and then should be tapering off by the time we get into early Monday morning of next week.
