Our latest obsession: KoKyTu

KuKy Tu at Cocoa Cinnamon

DURHAM, N.C. — I am a caffeine junkie. The only thing I like better than a super-strong cup of coffee is an ice-cold Coke. So imagine my delight (and my buzz) after discovering the KoKyTu at Durham's Cocoa Cinnamon.

It starts with Mexican Coke, a drink sought by soda-heads because it is made with pure cane sugar instead of the Americanized high-fructose corn syrup version. That's right, it's more natural!

They top it with triple ristretto, which can be described as a short, super-powered shot of espresso.

The KoKyTu is foamy on top, sweet on the bottom, roasty, dark, bitter and with just hint of chocolate.

A small (20 ounces) ought to be enough to power you through any long meeting.

Also, this drink is a collaboration with the food truck KoKyu BBQ, which is currently running a Kickstarter campaign for a brick and mortar location in Durham.
