Organization in Wake County seeking volunteers to grocery shop for seniors and disabled
The Center for Volunteer Caregiving in Wake County is actively seeking volunteers to help right now with grocery/pharmacy shopping, telephone check-ins and more for seniors and adults with disabilities. According to their website, they have approximately 60 people waiting on a volunteer to help them.
Elaine Whitford, Executive Director for The Center for Volunteer Caregiving, shared that they are "are actively onboarding new volunteers."
Volunteers are also needed to provide telephone check-ins for anyone who needs reassurance and a friendly voice.
The volunteers provide other services such as friendly visiting, light housekeeping, telecare, transportation to medical appointments and basic needs shops, and caregiver respite, but most of these services are on hold for a few weeks during the pandemic.

In addition, volunteers can provide telephone check-ins for anyone who needs reassurance and a friendly voice.
