HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — Orange County law enforcement agencies and emergency medical workers held a training exercise Saturday to prepare for emergencies at schools.

School district staff, law enforcement and emergency responders held a mock drill for a shooting and lockdown at C.W. Stanford Middle School in Hillsborough.

The exercise was funded through a Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

Orange County Schools received a $283,082 grant in 2008 in order to help the district and county authorities prepare for natural disasters and emergencies at schools.
