Hot, steamy weather on tap for Monday
Sunday topped out in the 80s, but highs will soar back into the mid 90s for much of the work week, according to WRAL meteorologist Kat Campbell.

Monday and the entire week will consist of hot, muggy afternoons in the low to mid 90s.
"It is going to get sticky again," said WRAL meteorologist Peta Sheerwood. "Our humidity levels are set to increase this week."
There is a level 1 risk for severe weather for counties west of the Triangle on Monday evening, with damaging winds, lightning and heavy rain possible. The system could bring some scattered storms and rain to the Triangle after dinnertime, but any activity will not be severe.

The first full week of summer will be very typical for the season, with steamy temperatures and a small chance for showers and storms each afternoon.
"An upper level ridge will keep our rain chances on the low side," Sheerwood said. "The bigger story will be the heat and humidity."
When it comes to humidity, Monday will feel the most oppressive, with dew points in the low 70s. Tuesday and Wednesday will also be uncomfortably steamy, with dew points in the upper 60s.
Since the weekend looks just as hot and muggy, there will be little relief from the intense heat all week.
