The new library, at 4505 S. Alston Ave. at N.C. 54, is on the historic site of the old Lowe's Grove School. The event begins with a ribbon cutting ceremony from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in front of the building. After that, visitors can go inside to check out the new building and some of the programming that will be available at the library.
And there will be a lot of special activities too, including live music, rhymetime, storytime, Salsa Kids, sign language for babies, a taste of the popular dance workout Zumba, Wii gaming, a yoga demonstration and more.
To celebrate the communities served by the library, the open house will include a special program called "Honoring Our History" where the library will accept and scan personal photos related to Parkwood, Lowe's Grove or RTP. In another room, participants who pre-register can record five minute oral memories of their lives in the communities. Call 560-0128 to register for that.
