RALEIGH, N.C. — Affordable Care Act open enrollment for 2019 began Thursday with some changes.
People have six weeks to sign up for a health plan under the ACA on HealthCare.gov.
This year, it may be more difficult to get help enrolling, as President Donald Trump's administration scaled back funding for sign-up counselors known as "navigators."
Another change coming on Jan. 1 says those who opt out of health insurance will not be penalized at tax time.
Insurance experts say most people in North Carolina can find a plan for less than $75 a month if they sign up for financial help before Dec. 15.
