GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A Wayne County man says he found a dismembered and discarded body in his driveway, just blocks from downtown Goldsboro.

On Tuesday, police asked for help identifying a sedan in connection to the investigation.

Goldsboro police are asking for help identifying a car in connection to a dismembered and discared body found in a driveway on May 24.

Goldsboro police have remained tight-lipped about details on the investigation, but Rodney Daniels says he is still in shock from the discovery.

He says the person was decapitated with numerous other body parts missing.

“This is my first time coming on the property," Daniels said. “I just looked at it, paused and just gathered and dialed 911.”

The horrifying discovery happened around 9:30 a.m. Monday. Daniels says he was coming back from his girlfriend’s house.

From his car, he couldn’t tell if the dismembered body was a man or a woman.

"Nobody should have to see that," he said.

Daniels says detectives searched his home and his car, and spent about eight hours taking pictures and collecting evidence.

Goldsboro police have not said if cameras high above the property captured any crime.

“It’s still unbelievable and I can’t believe it happened," Daniels added. "Why did it happen here? Why did I have to see it? And who pulled in the driveway to do that? To put somebody there? That’s the million dollar question.”

Daniels says Bright Street is a popular cut-through for drivers and walkers because of a grocery store at the end of the block.

In recent years, he says there have been multiple shootings, including a man shot directly in front of his home.

“I come out to see him. He’s taking his last breath," he said.

The unidentified torso adds to a string of unfortunate incidents at this home that’s been in the family for generations.

“I do hope that whoever did it is brought to justice and this person — whoever their family was — they can have the peace and closure that they really truly need.”

Anyone with information on the investigation is asked to call Goldsboro/Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255.
