Two arrested in fatal Fayetteville shooting

One person has been arrested and another is charged in connection with a fatal Friday morning shooting in Fayetteville.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Two people have been arrested in connection with a fatal Friday morning shooting in Fayetteville.

Fayetteville police said officers responded to the 4300 block of Fox Grove Circle in response to a report of shots fired and found Travis Elijah Freeman, 39, of the 900 block of Miller Avenue with gunshot wounds. Freeman was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he later died.

Latoya A. Henderson, 33, of the 4300 block of Fox Grove Circle and James E. Jones, 34, of the 5700 block of Holland Street were both charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with the incident.

Henderson was arrested Sunday night in Laurinburg and is being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.

Jones surrendered to Fayetteville police Tuesday afternoon. He was being held without bond at the Cumberland County Detention Center.
