RALEIGH, N.C. — One Raleigh man died and another man and a child were taken to Duke Hospital after shots rang out before dawn Saturday.

By the end of the day, police had charged Willie Richardson, 22, with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, first-degree burglary and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Richardson and an 11-year-old boy were recovering at Duke from gunshot wounds, authorities said.

The scene in Raleigh where one person was killed and two others injured during a shooting.

Deandre Carney, 19, died in the shooting.

Police did not say whether or how the three were related.

Neither Richardson nor Carney was the owner of the home in the 4200 block of Brintons Cottage Street where the shooting took place.

Police did not say what sparked the violence or what the trio was doing there.

Although Carney died in the shooting and, so far, only Richardson was charged with a crime, Richardson was not charged with Carney’s death.

Police have not said which of the men, if either, was the victim of the armed robbery or what was taken.
