PRINCETON, N.C. — One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash that happened Tuesday evening in Johnston County.

Princeton Police told WRAL's John Payne the crash happened just past 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of US 70 and Barden Street in Princeton. The driver of a small SUV was killed when they failed to yield to oncoming traffic. Police said an eastbound passenger car hit the SUV as it was attempting to cross the four lanes of traffic, and both vehicles left the roadway.

Police said the driver of the SUV, Kirino Reyes Cruz, 41, from Johnston County, died at the scene. Police said Cruz did not have a driver's license.

The driver of the car, Jaela Parks, was transported to Wake Med with serious but non-life threatening injuries. She will face no charges.

Fire officials at the scene said this was the fourth fatality on US 70 in Princeton in the past 90 days.
